With AI continuing to grow in importance, Google has announced it is working on Bard, a chatbot that aims to compete with OpenAI's ChatGPT.
In a new blog post, Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai announced the upcoming tool would be an "experimental conversational AI service" aimed at mimicking human conversation. It is touted as a powerful tool for users looking for answers to specific questions they may have, like baking a cake or figuring out how many Grammys Beyoncé has won.

"Bard seeks to combine the breadth of the world's knowledge with the power, intelligence and creativity of our large language models," Pichai writes in the blog post. "It draws on information from the web to provide fresh, high-quality responses."
This announcement comes after ChatGPT, which launched as a prototype back in late November, grew in popularity.
Last month, tech giant Microsoft announced a multi-million dollar investment into OpenAI. And earlier today, Microsoft announced new versions of its Bing and Edge search engines, which use the same AI technology foundation that ChatGPT uses.
Bard is currently available to a group of "trust testers." as Pichai noted in the post, but promised that the tool would be "more widely available to the public in the coming weeks."
