Yesterday, Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk announced that he now owns 9.2 percent of Twitter, making him the largest shareholder of the social media app. Immediately following the news, Musk took to Twitter to create a poll asking his followers if they wanted to see an edit button added to the platform.
The poll, which currently has over 3 million voters, shows that a majority that has voted do indeed want a feature that allows them to edit tweets.

Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal quote-tweeted Musk's poll, captioning it with a phrase parallelling one Musk tweeted a few days before he bought ten percent of the company.
An "edit button" has been a widely requested feature on Twitter, allowing users to change Tweets after being published. While most lobby for the feature as a way to fix a typo (or two), some feel that an edit button would be abused by users, most notably, providing leverage to make significant changes to the original tweet posted.
In early 2020, Twitter co-founder and former CEO Jack Dorsey said in a video Q&A with Wired that the company "we'll probably never do it," when asked if it would make the feature a reality.
Earlier today, Agrawal announced that Musk will be appointed to Twitter's board of directors, saying he felt the tech entrepreneur would bring "great value to [its] board" after having conversations with Musk in recent weeks. Yesterday, according to the document, Twitter formally filed a form with the SEC concerning the appointment, with Musk serving as a class II director until 2024.
Musk then replied to Agrawal's announcement tweet, noting that he plans to work with the CEO and the board to make "significant improvements to Twitter in coming months!" Whether an edit feature is one remains to be seen.
